1991 Number One Songs UK
The 1991 number one songs in the UK could well be the most interesting list so far. One of the 17 top songs of 1991 was number one for months rather than weeks, for starters. Has anyone ever played the track since, after the airtime it got back then? Let’s just say for now that the UK charts in October 1991 made music history.
Another number one song of 1991 is a one hit wonder that I’m sure I’m not alone in associating with the 80s rather than the 90s. But there’s no arguing with the charts when it comes to the singles sales that tell the tale of the 1991 top songs.
What else? The Christmas no 1 of 1991 didn’t have a festive theme, but was very much associated with someone we sadly lost that year. But perhaps the biggest surprise is the number 1 song of 1991 that started the year, which is neither festive nor to everyone’s taste. I like it, though – even though as the mother of a girl, maybe I shouldn’t…
If you’re always wondering what the number one song in November 1991 was – or indeed any other month – read on to find out. These are all the 1991 number one songs here in the UK.

What do you think of the 1991 number one songs in the UK?
So now you know who knocked Bryan Adams off number 1 in the UK – U2. Though The Fly was only at the top spot for one week.
My personal favourite of the number one songs of 1991 is a toss-up between Michael Jackson, Queen and Iron Maiden – and Chesney Hawkes, if I’m completely honest. That ditty is just so damned catchy!
As for The Bartman, I’d forgotten all about that. As for 1991 love songs, if I never hear that Bryan Adams tune again it won’t matter – the number of times I saw it on Top Of The Pops in 1991 should easily last me for the rest of my life.
